GET INTO RUGBY

Rugby is exploding in Indiana and across the nation. Now is the perfect time to Get Into Rugby.

What a year it has been! US Men’s and Women’s National 7s Rugby Teams make the Olympics. The US Women’s 7s team wins the first Olympic 7s Rugby medal for the US, and a $4,000,000 donation to the Women’s team for training for the next Olympics.  Olympics Men’s and Women’s matches set attendance records.  In Indiana there are now more than 12 colleges with Men’s and/or Women’s Rugby. Adults play rugby in Indiana too. This past year the Indianapolis Impalas made it to the Final Four in their USA Rugby National Championships Divison.  Local business leaders are working to revitalize Kuntz Stadium in Indianapolis and make it a rugby facility.

Youth and High School rugby grows nationally by 27%, In Indiana there is a lot of growth.  Clubs are adding youth and high school teams, the fall high school season that plays 7s rugby (the version in the Olympics) is growing rapidly. High School teams in Indiana regulalry appear on national rankings.  Schools are reaching out to learn how to add rugby to their PE programs, organizations like Girls Inc. Indianapolis introduced girls to rugby, and so much more.
